A neat little model to print and make from Thingiverse. I want to print the original full size Articulated Octopus, but for now I found this remix which is a keyring. Printed on my Printrbot Simple 3D Printer and recorded on the time lapse function of my Octoprint Octopi print server installed on a Raspberry Pi.
Original model is by Solid_Alexei and can be found here – http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1571732.
My make can be found here – http://www.thingiverse.com/make:232802.
I went with a fine layer height to get all the detail and try to keep the body smooth and round, so 0.1032mm layer height was chosen for my imperial z-screw on my Printrbot Simple Makers Kit 1405. Had some issues with the sockets of the tentacles on the body and a couple split slightly so the arms are not held in solid. I think I may re-print in black or grey and print at 100% infill, or play with the perimeters to get a stronger print. Also had some major issues with stringiness due to the 0.1mm layer height. I need to work on this, any suggestions on reducing stringiness, comment below?!
Overall though, amazing remix design and love it! Could play with it for hours! Needs to be stronger if it’s going to be a keyring though.
