Maria and Gary’s Leyland Wedding

On May 22nd 2010 I was given the honour of being official photographer for Maria and Gary Howarth, two friends of mine.? This was my big break into full? day wedding photography, and a bit of an experiment to see if this is where my? skills lie… Gary and Maria put a lot of faith and trust? with me after seeing my past portfolio, which included very little wedding work – but off? the back of my portrait work, they? were confident in my ability.

I have wanted to break out into wedding photography since I started taking my photography seriously and getting positive comments from my work.? Wedding photography seemed the most obvious route to take, with its diversity, the style, the pace and excitement of shooting all day.? This was my break…

My take on the wedding day and how I want to shoot it has been greatly influenced by local (and global superstar) Jeff Ascough.? I’d highly recommend you check out his site at http://jeffascough.com/, a true master of the craft.

The big day was a huge success (for both the bride and groom, and myself!).? It? was the? hottest day of the? year so? far, which meant? sweaty skin, squinting, raised temperatures and sun sun sun… not the most ideal setup to produce images for them to last a life time!? However, the day went well, with air conditioning, paper fans and plenty of cold “drinks” to keep everyone cool.

Well, enough about the facts of the day, it’s safe to say it was a perfect day all round, perfect for the lovely couple, their gorgeous (and highly photogenic!) kids and for me.? An exciting future awaits us all!? Here are some of my fave shots of the day…
